Kids these days may think of baby shark songs when they think of sharks,
I think of the movie Jaws.
Pictures and Description
I made shark oven gloves that remind me of scary Jaws.
They are scary sharks with sharp teeth.😮
But if you look at it like this again, it looks like mild sharks.
The one on the left is an oven glove,
and the small shark on the right is a baby shark hand puppet.
It's small, so an adult's hand might not fit.
Kids will love the shark oven mitt as they can be played with as hand puppets.
The belly of a shark looks like this.
On the right are oven mitts that I made two years ago and are still using very well.
The part where the hand enters is finished with a bias.
Shark oven mitts are a lot of work to decorate, so I just wrapped them in a lining.
There is a pattern, so make it the shape you want.
Smells good!
Go Shark!
Great job!
Thanks! Shark. Enjoy!
Pattern
There are two patterns: a large oven glove and a small hand puppet.
The back is (A), the mouth (B), and the belly (C).
(You can download the pattern at the bottom of this post.)
Materials
(B) Use 3 to 4 sheets of interfacing on the thickness.
Outer - Linen, Lining - Cotton, Fiberfill
Interfacing : Pre_quilted batting / White quilting fabric polyester cotton
(It is quilted together with polyester cotton and white t/c fabric.)
Glue Stick
#16 Sewing Machine Needle
Baby hand puppet materials
These are the interfacings that I usually use to make oven mitts.
These can be used for pillow covers, slippers, pouches, bags, and more.
How to make
1. Sew shark fins right sides together and cut the seam allowance on the pointed part.
2. Stuff with fill.
3. Lay the fin between the outer fabric of (A) and sew.
4. Open the seam allowance on both sides and sew around the fin.
6. Set the zigzag pattern, adjust the stitch width and stitch length,
and sew around the black and white eyes.
8, Fix it to the right side of the outer of (B) and sew it.
9. Layer 3 or 4 interfacings, place the lining on one side and the outer fabric on the other, and sew about 0.5cm (3/16in) inward.
Because it is thick, the needle is No. 16, and the stitch length is long.
Hand puppets use only one interfacing.
10. In (A) and (C), only the outer fabric and interfacing are sewn.
(It does not need to be exactly 0.5cm (3/16in) as it is just for fixing the fabric and the interfacing.)
11. Cut off the extra interfacing.
13. Sew the top and trim seam allowances, leaving about 0.5cm (¼in).
15. Lay like the third picture and sew.
17. Turn inside out so that the right side is visible.
18. Fold the lining twice and wrap the end of the glove.
19. Insert the loop and sew around it.
20. Completed the shark oven glove.
Make another one if needed.
